Gladys Jean Walker, 92, of Kannapolis, passed into the loving arms of the Lord Saturday, January 2, 2021 after a period of declining health. Born August 26, 1928 in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Archibald Goodin and Lela Johnson Goodin Blackwelder.
A homemaker for most of her life, Gladys’ loved birdwatching, Carolina basketball, the Lord and was a very special prayer warrior.
Gladys is survived by a daughter Beverly Long and husband Ron of Salisbury; a son, Mark Walker and wife Susan of Fortson, GA; five grandchildren, Brandon Walker, Jeremy Walker, Aaron Long, Hannah Freeman, and Rebekah Long; and six great-grandchildren, Stetson Long, Tinslee Long, Hunter Freeman, Miles Freeman, Levi Freeman, and Boone Freeman.
Aside from her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Luther Howard Walker.
A graveside service to honor her life will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Carolina Memorial Park, 601 Mt. Olivet Road, Kannapolis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Rockwell Christian School, P.O. Box 609, Rockwell, NC 28138.
