Obituary: Glenn Arthur Bickerstaff passed away at CMC-Northeast on February 23, 2016 around 7:15pm. His wife, Martha, son Douglas, son Daniel and his wife Tara were with him as he went to be with his Lord. Glenn was born in Coraopolis, PA to the late Glenn Arthur Bickerstaff Sr. and Gretchen Way Bickerstaff where he also grew up. He graduated from Greenbrier Military Academy. "Bick" as he's known to his friends first worked at T. Frank Camp Soles in Pennsylvania as a life guard and camp counselor where he met his beloved wife Martha "Marty". They were later married in July 1963. Bick worked at Westinghouse in Maryland as an electrical engineer in the early 1960's where he worked on the Gemini Space Program. He then went to work for IBM in the early 1970's in Kingston, NY. He spent 30 years at IBM working on computer display development. During this time, he made life-long friends in which he spoke of highly and often and their travels to Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Europe. In his retirement he owned several businesses including Crystal Technology, Hakky Shoe Repair, Staffcom and various rental properties that kept him very busy. Bick didn't just work, he had several hobbies that fit his technical nature. He enjoyed model ship building in which he built several scale models of Clipper Ships with great detail. That attention to detail also allowed him the honor in completing restoration for the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park, NY. He also had a life-long love of aviation where his favorite were WWII War Birds. This love led him to earn his private pilot license in the early 1990's. Bick also enjoyed wood working. Over the years he crafted several pieces of custom furniture. Bick was always in one of his shops in the evenings building or repairing something. He also enjoyed singing in various church choirs and the Mendelssohn Club of Kingston, NY. Bick also believed in serving his community. He was an EMT and served Cabarrus County as a volunteer with the Cabarrus County Rescue Squad for over 10 years. Bick is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marty; son Douglas; son Daniel and wife Tara; brother, Rodgers W. and wife Kathleen; grandchildren, Kenzie, Camdyn, Jack and Emerson that he loved very much. His love of telling and hearing a good joke will be greatly missed until we see him in Heaven. Receiving of friends will be at Bethpage Presbyterian Church at 6020 Mooresville Rd. in Kannapolis on 3/3/16 at 11am immediately followed by a celebration of life beginning at 12:30pm.
