Obituary: Glenn Lee Smith, Sr., 51, of Kannapolis died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 5, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel with Rev. Robert Earnhardt officiating. Private burial will follow at a later date. Glenn was born May 22, 1964 in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late James Hewitt Smith, Jr. and Providence Patula of Kannapolis. In addition to his father, Glenn was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Neal Smith. Glenn was a life-long area resident, educated in Kannapolis school system. He worked in construction until he became disabled. He enjoyed restoring anything mechanical; cars, motorcycles and go-carts. Glenn was dearly loved by all and will be missed tremendously. Survivors include his loving mother, Providence Patula of the home, his son, Glenn Lee Smith, Jr. of Charlotte and his sister, Dawn Smith Palmer of Kannapolis. He is also survived by a brother, James Hewitt Smith, III of Kannapolis.
