Obituary: Arvil Glenn Wingler, 77, passed away Wednesday, December 03, 2014 at his residence. Glenn was born August 24, 1937 in Wilkes County to the late Fred and Marie Wingler. He was a member of West A Tabernacle Church; worked for more than35 years for R.S. Braswell Company; he served in the U.S. Navy but most of all he was full of wisdom and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Faye Wingler of the home; five children, Jerry Glenn Wingler (Terri) of Kannapolis; Bill Wingler (Patsy) of Kannapolis, Jim Wingler (Lisa) of Landis, Sandy Whitley (Jacob) of Locust, and Angie Wingler of Salisbury; six grandchildren, Brandi Sloop, Jesse Wingler, Ashley Wingler, Logan Whitley, Jacob Whitley, and Adam Wingler; five great grandchildren, Cameron Sloop, Caleb Sloop, Cody Sloop, Luke Wingler, and Emma Wingler; six sisters, Ellajean Menius, Ailene Watson, Gladys Wilkes, Ruth Eldreth, Doris Stokes, Penny Story; and one brother, Larry Wingler. Glenn was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Wingler; and a grandson, Joshua Wingler. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 5, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel with the Rev. Rodney Efird and Rev. Don Greer officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park.
