Glenn Reid Yow, 88, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Caremoor Retirement Community.
Glenn was born on November 9, 1932 in Rowan County to the late A.B. Yow and Dora Mae Huffman Yow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Von Yow.
Glenn honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Glenn enjoyed spending time on the lake going fishing and taking fishing trips with friends. He especially loved traveling all over the country with his wife who was always by his side. He was a long-time member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara Jane Edsel Yow; daughter, Tena (Fred) Yow Steen; grandchildren, Blake (Shannon) Steen and Blair (Dwight) Honeycutt, and three great-grandchildren, Tristan, Braden, and Landon.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. The funeral service honoring Glenn’s life will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet UMC with Rev. Wes Judy and Rev. Neal Jones officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family gives a special thanks to the loving staff and caregivers at Caremoor Retirement Community during the last six years.
