Obituary: Gloria "Kay" Huffman Gainey, 61, of Kannapolis died Friday, February 28, 2014 at CMC-NE after a period of declining health. Graveside services celebrating Gloria's life will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, March 3 at West Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Ronald Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 Pm at Whitley's Funeral Home prior to the graveside service. Gloria was born July 15, 1952 in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Cora Lee Nanney Huffman. She was a life-long area resident and worked many years for Fieldcrest-Cannon in the Plant 4 weave room and then in housekeeping at Phillip Morris in Concord. Gloria enjoyed watching NASCAR and rooting for Jeff Gordon, her favorite driver. She loved her family and will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, Gloria was also preceded in death by her brother, Steven M. Huffman and most recently by her mother Cora Lee Huffman on January 28th She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Paul Gainey and her niece, Kathryn Dancy, both of the family home. Also surviving are 2 sisters; Pamela J, Milstead and Susan A. Huffman and her 2 brothers; Thomas G. Huffman and Jeffery L. Huffman, all of Salisbury as well as many other beloved relatives.
