Gloria Jackson

Obituary: - Gloria Jean Grooms Jackson, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at her home. She was born January 17, 1957 in Chesterfield County, SC, the daughter of Sarah Jane Goodale Grooms of Kannapolis, NC and the late William Ellis Grooms. Gloria was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Wash Cloth Dept. for twenty years. She was an active member of Universal House of Prayer, Concord, NC where she enjoyed singing. She also liked to listen to the preaching of both her previous minister, Rev. Samuel Whittington and her present minister, Rev. Randy Lefler. Her family fondly remembers her love of going to Carolina Beach and especially shopping. She also had a great love of watching T.V. and movie Westerns while drinking coffee or a Pepsi. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jehu Ronald Jackson who died on February 20, 2014; and her sister, Wanda Safrit. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Universal House of Prayer, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. Randy Lefler. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church prior to the service. Survivors in addition to her mother include her sons, Timothy Jackson of Kannapolis, NC; her daughter, Melissa Pruitt & husband, Jeff of Rockwell, NC; her sister, Sherry Furr & husband, Randy of Rockwell, NC; two brothers, Marty Goodale and David Grooms, both of Kannapolis, NC; her grandchildren, Brittany Alverson of Salisbury, NC and Joshua Avery Milam of Kannapolis, NC.
