Obituary: Kannapolis - Goldie Mae Christy Rodgers, 86, of Kannapolis died May 7, 2009 at CMC NorthEast. She was born May 2, 1923 in Cabarrus County the daughter of the late Walter Elmore Christy and the late Roxie Lee Elizabeth Arthurs Christy. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Frank Christy and Guey Otto Christy. She retired in 1988 from Cannon Mills Co Plant 1 Shearing Dept. after 27 years. She was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband Edward A. Rodgers, her son Horace W. Rodgers and wife Pat of Kannapolis, her daughter Sandra R. Williams and husband Charles of Fayetteville, a sister Annie Long of Kannapolis, 5 brothers: Ralph Steven Christy of Concord, Oscar Ray Christy, Paul Eugene Christy, Walter Lee Christy, and David Leonard Christy all of Kannapolis, 4 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren. Her funeral service will be 3:00 PM Saturday May 9, 2009 at Bethpage Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Darryl Baker. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
