Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Grace Smith Clark (Nannie), age 92, of 151 Ashmont Drive, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a sudden illness. She was born April 14, 1916 in Mecklenburg County, NC, the daughter of the late Charlton Barto Smith and Ona Wendel Smith. In earlier years she was a bookkeeper for Coleman Pools and Clark Industrial Truck Sales and Service. In later years she was employed with the former Merita Bakeries, Charlotte, NC for many years until her retirement. She had a special love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 269 Flint Hill Road, Fort Mill, SC officiated by Rev. Mike Fongemy. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include one daughter, Frankie C. Ward of Kannapolis, NC; two sons, Pete Clark of Cross, SC and Keenan Clark of Charlotte, NC; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
