Grace Rufty Osborne

Obituary: Grace Marie Rufty Osborne, age 85, of Kannapolis passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014, peacefully at her home after a period of declining health. A Memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 13 at Charity Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Payton, Rev. Ron Bushey and Rev. R. J. Hammond officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service, at other times the family will be at the home of her niece, Donna Oakley, at 1018 Kentucky St. Kannapolis. Grace was born November 24, 1929 in Salisbury, NC, a daughter of the late Franklin G. Rufty, Sr. and Beulah Cauble Rufty. She was a lifelong area resident and graduate of J.W. Cannon High School - Class of '47. Grace was employed at Cannon Mills in the Bleachery Dept. as Timekeeper. She received her 50 year pin in 1997 and continued to work until the Mill closed. Grace was a charter member of Charity Baptist Church. She was active in her church life including teaching Sunday school. Grace was an avid cross-stitcher. She enjoyed reading her Bible every day and spending time with her family. Grace was a loving and devoted wife, sister and aunt. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her husband, O. C. Osborne in 2005, her brothers, Franklin G. Rufty, Jr. and Rev. John M. Rufty and her sister, Evelyn "Granny" Hammett. Grace is survived by her sister, Edith Oakley of New London, her niece, Dorothye Corriher of Salisbury, nephew, Andrew "Butch" Hammett and niece, Donna Oakley, both of Kannapolis and many loving great-nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Cabarrus Co. and to her caregiver, Ann Scott and special family friend, Lynne Royal, for the love and care shown Grace during this time.
