Grace Virginia Sherrill

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Grace Virginia Sherrill, age 94, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Transitional Health Services, Kannapolis, NC. She was born July 17, 1919 in Catawba County, NC, the daughter of the late Jarvis Sherrill and Anna Robinson Sherrill. In earlier years Grace was employed by the former Bitsy Baker, Kannapolis, NC and later with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Packing Supplies Dept. for many years until her retirement. Grace was a life-long member of Memorial United Methodist Church; Kannapolis, NC where she was active in various church activities including a circle being named after her prior to her death and was only one of the few laypersons for whom a circle was named called the "Adams-Sherrill Circle." In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Cletus (Bill) Alexander Sherrill, Jr., who died October 18, 2008; and her siblings, Chester Sherrill, Abilene Little, Marshall (Bob) Sherrill, Joyce Sherrill, Boyce Sherrill, and Lena Mae Martin; a daughter-in-law, Deartry Sherrill; and a great-grandson, Isaac. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Jim Brookshire. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sherrills Ford, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 12:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her two sons, Ronnie Sherrill and Eddie Sherrill, both of Kannapolis, NC; four grandchildren, Jon Sherrill & wife, Kristen, Leigh Ann Carawan & husband, Scott, Josh Sherrill, and Garrett Sherrill & wife, Kristy; great-grandchildren, Emily, Caleb, Noah, Josiah, Joseph, and Abigail.
