Obituary: Grady Gilford Gulledge, age 81 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at CMC Northeast Hospital now Atrium after declining health since 2010. He was born on June 9, 1936 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. a son of the late Arlin Bryon Gulledge Sr. and the late Beulah Mae Boatwright. Also preceding him in death was a son Anthony (Andy) Gulledge, a sister Thelma Jordan, and 4 brothers Beuford Gulledge, A.B. Gulledge Jr., Rhett Gulledge, and Jerry Gulledge. He is survived by his wife, Terry Christy Stancil who have been together since 1986 but married in 2007. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Margaret Stackleather (Oscar) of Richfield, NC, Joyce Jackson (Therald) of Monroe, NC, Shelby Barnes (Gary) of Kannapolis and a brother Larry Gulledge (Patrice) of Kannapolis. Grady is survived by two children Teresa Hardison (Jeff) and Keith Gulledge (late wife Denise Howard) both from Landis. 6 Grandchildren Ryan Hardison, Whitney Hardison Christina Harwood (Jason), Sheena Torrence (Jason), James Gulledge and Sharon Chapman. 9 Great Grandchildren, Hayleigh, McKenzi , Tucker, Levi, Davis, Tanner, Madalynn, Kerri Ann and Josey. In 1952, at the age of 15, Grady came to Kannapolis to work in Wykes Cabinet Shop with his brother A.B. Gulldedge Jr. which later became Gulledge Building Supply. He retired from Gulledge Building Supply as Assistant Manager in August, 2017 after 65 years of service in the building supply industry. He became a master carpenter and cabinet maker. From 1967 to 1969 he served as a volunteer fireman with the Enochville Fire Department. In the 70's he operated a security system company. Later in the 80's he became a licensed insurance agent, realtor and builder of homes and started a company, Gulledge and Brown Associates along with Gene Brown. In 1971 along with partners, Child Care of Kannapolis, Inc. was opened, providing day care for mostly Cannon Mills workers in the Centerview community of Kannapolis. They operated 3 shifts when the mill was operating at its prime. In 1980, they opened another daycare in the Parkwood Community of Concord, Parkwood Daycare until 2015. He served as President of Parkview Enterprises from its beginning in 1991 until his death. He was co-founder and Vice President of Operation Homeless, Inc. from 2013 until his death along with his wife. Grady received his 3rd degree from the Allen Graham Lodge #695 on May 23, 1971 where he served as Treasurer since 1990. He received his Life Membership into Allen Graham Lodge #695 in 2011. He completed his Thirty Second Degree into the Scottish Rite on April 27, 1972. He became Master of the Allen Graham Lodge #695 in 1982. Grady joined the Oasis Shrine and Cabarrus Shrine Club on January 26, 1974. He became President of the Cabarrus Shrine Club in 1984 and received his Life Time membership award on December 28, 2001 for his many years of dedicated service. He was Shriner of the year in 1985. He became an Oasis Tripster in 2001 which transported the children to the hospitals for treatment until 2015 when health issues required him to stop. He was a member of the Kannapolis Moose Lodge. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Kannapolis Church of God conducted by Dr. Greg Sloop. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum with Masonic graveside rites conducted by Allen-Graham Lodge #695. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM Saturday prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence.
