Grady Perry James

Obituary: Grady Perry James, age 64, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a serious illness of one day. He was born September 15, 1949 in Jackson County, NC, the son of the late Spofford James and Bessie Tucker James. In earlier years Grady was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Finishing Dept. for twenty years. He spent the latter years installing doors for MRC Doors, Concord, NC, Fuller Supply, and lastly at Propst Brothers Distributors in Concord where he retired. Grady was an active member of Genesis Baptist Church, China Grove, NC where he had served as a deacon. He also was active with Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge #626 where he had served in various positions and as master of the lodge twice. His family fondly remembers his love for family especially the time and energy he spent with his grandson, Josh. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Pete James; David James; and Ronald James; and two sisters, Grace Cain and Lether May. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 27, 2014 at Genesis Baptist Church, China Grove, NC officiated by Rev. Gene Edwards. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, with Masonic rites conducted by Cannon Memorial Lodge #626. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Friday at the church prior to the service. The remainder of the time the family will be at the residence. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Elder James; two daughters, Angela James and Lisa Barnette & husband, Brent both of Kannapolis, NC; four brothers, L.C. (Ducky) James of Monroe, NC; Franklin John James of Lancaster, SC; Leonard James of Concord, NC; and Jerrell James of China Grove, NC; two sisters, Mary Katherine Morrison of Wyoming and Margaret McLain Sheets of Kannapolis, NC; one special grandson, Josh Brent Barnette; and two brother-in-laws, Jack Elder and Roger Elder, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Memorials may be made to Genesis Baptist Church, 9710 Old Concord-Salisbury Road, China Grove, NC 28023.

Service: 2:00 P.M. Friday June 27, 2014 Genesis Baptist Church.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park.
