Grady York Overcash

Obituary: Mr. Grady York Overcash 87, of Concord went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 21, 2018 after unexpected complications from a surgery in May. He was born May 31, 1931 in Rowan County to Bonnell P. Overcash and Stella Wyatt Overcash. Grady served his country in the US Army for 22 years where he was awarded many medals and awards. Following his military retirement Grady was employed with the N.C. Department of Corrections where he retired after 20 years of employment. Following his second retirement he enjoyed his hobby of raising and racing pigeons and was a member of the Tar Heel Racing Pigeon Club. In his earlier years he loved to go hunting and being in the woods with his beagle dogs. When Grady had time he liked to relax and go fishing. Grady was a very faithful member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church where he was involved in various phases of the church. Grady was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Cecil D. Overcash. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Lois Graham Overcash, his granddaughter Melissa Starnes Holbrooks and husband Carl, Great grandchildren Blake, Mikayla, and Chase Holbrooks all of York, S.C. Two brothers Harvey (Pete) Overcash of Concord, Claude (Buddy) Overcash and wife Trula of Vero Beach. Special caregiver and niece Becky Margolis and numerous other nieces and nephews. A celebration of Life Service will be 2:30 P.M. Friday June 29, 2018 at North Kannapolis Baptist Church with Rev. Chris O'Guin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. prior to the service. Inurnment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
