Gray Newton Goodman

Obituary: Gray Newton Goodman, 78, of Mt. Ulla, passed away on October 29, 2012 at his home. He was born July 4, 1934 in Rowan County, the son of the late Charles G. Goodman and Tillie Goodman Honeycutt. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Gail Phillips Goodman and his sister, Margaret Goodman Corriher. Gray was a handyman and also had previously worked in textiles and construction. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis officiated by Rev. James Matchette, Rev. Mike Hilson and Rev. Ronald Lee. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 prior on Wednesday at Whitley's. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Freeman Goodman, three children: Michael Goodman and wife, Adele of Chapel Hill, Daniel Goodman of Atlanta, Ga, Karen Goodman Shattuck and husband, Steve, of Fayetteville, two step-children: Michael Hilson and wife, Tina, of LaPlata, Md., Michele Lee and husband, Ronald of Mt. Pleasant, a brother , Richard Goodman and Cheria, of Charlotte, a sister, Dolly Goodman Moose and husband, Wayne, of Mt. Ulla, 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 5 step-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
