Guy Chastain

Obituary: Mr. Guy Chastain, 78, of Kannapolis died Friday, February 24, 2012 at Big Elm Nursing Center following a period of declining health. He was born September 8, 1933 in Madison County, Ga. a son of the late Luther Gene and Millie Octavia Scarboro Chastain. Guy was a member of the Living Water Church of God of Kannapolis and was a veteran serving with the US Army. Prior to his retirement he was employed at Towel City Retreading Company for many years and later at Hoechst- Celanese (Fiber) Industries. He also was a car relocation driver for many car dealerships. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 27, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Bishop Wade H. Easom, Sr. and Rev. L.J. Mills. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 12:00-1:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence of his sister, Betty Scarborough of China Grove. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Lisk Chastain in 2011. Survivors include two sisters, Betty Scarborough of China Grove, Lois Safrit of Statesville, one brother, Luther Junior Chastain of Landis, a step-son, Sonny Wood of Kannapolis and numerous nieces and nephews.
