Guy Eugene Honeycutt

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Guy Eugene Honeycutt, age 69, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at his home after a period of declining health. He was born May 6, 1941 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of Mary Belle Sides Honeycutt of Kannapolis, NC and the late Clarence Honeycutt. He attended A.L. Brown High School. Guy was employed as a fork lift operator with the former Fieldcrest-Cannon, Inc., Kannapolis, NC for 43 years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC where he was active in the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was also an umpire with the Dixie Youth Little League Baseball program and various church leagues. In later years after he retired, he worked at Goodwill Industries where he assisted in collecting donations. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Central Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Curtis Parker, Rev. Allen Reid, and Rev. Jim Grigg, pastor of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 47 years, Odell Jordan Honeycutt; two daughters, Karen Honeycutt Anderson & husband, Jeff of Kannapolis, NC and Sharon Honeycutt Hucks & husband, Alan of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Jason Hucks, Alayna Hucks, Amanda Hucks, and Jacob Anderson; one great-grandchild, Thomas Hucks; and two brothers, Tony Honeycutt & wife, Brenda and Mike Honeycutt & wife, Lynn, both of Kannapolis, NC.
