Obituary: Gwendolyn Carolyn Tyson Broadway, 76, of Kannapolis died at CMC-NorthEast in Concord on February 6, 2015. Gwendolyn was born on September 18, 1938 in Anson Co., NC, the daughter of the late Paul Lee Tyson and the late Notia Lee Tyson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Frank Broadway who died in 1977, 2 sons; Jeffrey Dale Broadway and Ronnie Lee Bolick, 3 sisters; Vivian Norton, Elizabeth Ann Hagin and Brenda Gail Gathings and a brother, Joe Tyson. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Enochville and had worked at Big Elm Nursing Center and Best of Care Nursing Center. She simply loved working with the elderly, racing and fishing. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Broadway of Kannapolis, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bobby Van Tyson of Wadesboro; sisters, Evelyn Smith of Charlotte and Hilda Gibson of Norcross, GA; and a nephew, David Hagin. The service for Mrs. Broadway will take place at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Enochville conducted by Pastor Lewis Whittington. Burial will take place at Rocky Mt. Church Cemetery in Oakboro, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Enochville before the service. Pallbearers will be; David Hagin, Tim Tyson, Braxton Broadway, Darius Anthony, Robert Eldreth and Ross Brown.
