Obituary: Gwendyl "Marlene" Browning, 76, of Landis went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House after a period of declining health. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, February 22 at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Goble officiating. The family will receive friendsfrom 3 to 4 prior at church. Marlene was born April 24, 1938 in Rowan Co., a daughter of the late Adam Linker and Ethel Bass Harrison. She was a life-long area resident and long-time member of Blackwelder Baptist Church where she was active in the women's circle and the church food pantry. Marlene loved Gospel Music, going to Carolina Opry at Myrtle Beach but most of all, her family. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 53 years, Curtis Browning, Jr. of Landis; her son, Todd Browning (Tracey) of China Grove, her daughter, Lori B. Wilson (Dennis) of Salisbury; 5 grandchildren, Lauren Sechler, Stephanie Sechler, Jared Browning, Luke Browning and Javan Browning, and 3 great-grandchildren Brionna, Aubrey and Ryder. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Linker (Roxanne) of Salisbury, her 2 sisters, Sheila McGinnis (Fred) of Kannapolis and Glenda Freed (Greg) of Landis as well as many nieces and nephews.
