Gysgt. Michael Kenneth Threatt, USMC Ret., 66, of China Grove, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021. Born February 10, 1955 in Rock Hill, SC, he was the son of the late Bruce Kenneth Threatt and Ollie Delinda Starnes Blackwell.
Mike, a Veteran of Desert Storm, retired as a Gunnery Sergeant after 22 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. He was also a former bull and bronc rider, who also greatly enjoyed woodworking.
Mike is survived by six sons, Shane and wife Tiffany, Scott, James, Dallas, Austin, and Justin; two daughters, Maria Eyrisch and Jordin Miller; six grandchildren, Jacob Williams, Ryleigh Threatt, Wyatt Threatt, Weston Threatt, Lucas Threatt, and Levi Threatt; and five siblings, Susan Eargle, Wayne Threatt, Renee Eargle (Bryan), Dennis Threatt, and Kim Santmyer.
Graveside services to honor Mike’s life and service to his country will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Whitley’s Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd. Kannapolis, NC 28083.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to Toys for Tots 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172 or National Museum of the Marine Corps
