Obituary: Hardin C. "Hob" McRae, 95, passed away Wednesday morning, October 7, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House following a brief illness. Born April 30, 1920 in Mt. Gilead, NC, he was a son of the late Charlie and Gertie Smith McRae. Hardin retired from Cannon Mills Plant 1, #6 weave room after 45 years of dedicated service, and was a lifelong member of Centerview Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, working on cars, bicycles, mowers and could fix anything with a motor. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Coley McRae, an infant daughter, Linda Carol McRae; 5 sisters and 5 brothers. Family members include his son, Kenneth C. McRae and wife Linda; his daughters, Tanya McRae Carter and husband Jerry and Cynthia McRae Adcock and husband, Grady, all of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Scott Carter (Sharon), Trent Carter, Angela Mullinax (Dean), Heather Bullard (Jason), and Keith and Mike McRae, his great-grandchildren, Zachay Mullinax, Ansley Carter, Jack Carter and Julie Bullard. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 10, 2015, from 12:30-2:30 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Willie Rash, Pastor, Centerview Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Centerview Baptist Church, 415 Walker Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083 or to Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. The family would like to thank the staff of Tucker Hospice House for the love and care given to Mr. McRae.
