Harold King Cline

Obituary: Mooresville - Harold King Cline, age 86, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville, NC after a brief illness. He was born September 6, 1922 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Parks L. Cline and Ruth Propst Cline. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII from November 24, 1942 to January 29, 1946 - 84th Infantry Division-325th FA BN - HQ BTRY Railsplitters Division. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and remained an active member of the Railsplitter Society where he had served on the Executive Board. On Memorial Day 2002, he had the honor of laying the wreath on behalf of the Railsplitters at Margraten Cemetery in The Netherlands. He was a 1952 graduate of Catawba College. After college he taught & coached first at Biscoe High School and then at Hendersonville High School until 1965. He later worked for Horace Mann Insurance for many years until his retirement in 1987. After retirement he worked further for the Neil Medical Group, Mooresville, NC from 1989 until his death. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church, 575 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, NC officiated by Rev. Rob Fuquay and Rev. Andrea Smith. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Helen Sloop Cline; his children, Mrs. Stan Osteen (Barbara) of Davidson, NC Donald Cline of Hartford, TN, and Mrs. Ronnie Exware (Beverly) of Youngsville, NC; grandchildren, Mrs. Steve Love (Jill), Josh Osteen, Kristen Hughes, and Matthew Bogedain; and great-grandchildren, Brett Huffman, Austin Love, Luke Osteen , Dylan Hughes, and Kelcie-Grace Love; brothers, Leonard Cline of Sun City Center, FL and Kenneth Cline of Concord, NC. Memorials may be made to Williamson's Chapel United Methodist Church, 575 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, NC 28117. On-line condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
