Harold John Crawford

Obituary: Harold John Crawford, age 91, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a sudden illness. He was born October 6, 1923 in Mecklenburg County, NC, the son of the late Fred Crawford and Ida Jane Dowless Crawford. Harold was a graduate of the former Central High School, Charlotte, NC. Later, he entered the U.S. Navy having served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Harold was employed as a master marble mason having worked for Atlantic Marble & Tile, Charlotte, NC and later, Carolina Marble & Tile, Winston-Salem, NC until his retirement. His family fondly remembers his love of yard work, dove hunting, and doing special projects for others. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Faye Ruth Crawford; and five other siblings. A private graveside service to celebrate his memory will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Charlotte, NC. Survivors include his daughter, Annette Crawford of Kannapolis, NC; one granddaughter, Heather Magpie of Lexington, NC; a number of nieces & nephews; and two feline companions, Mister Kittie and Matilda; Memorials may be made to Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation, 311 Harvey Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Ginger's Fund, FOS-DCNC, P.O.
