Harold Brown Eagle

Obituary: Harold Brown Eagle, 90, of Kannapolis passed away on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Big Elm Nursing Center. He was born September 3, 1921 in Rowan County, the son of the late Gideon and Bessie Morgan Eagle. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Arlene Griffin Eagle and his second wife Virginia Honeycutt Eagle. He was the last survivor of 10 brothers and sisters. Harold was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WW II. He retired from Cannon Mills where he worked at Plant 1 Weave room. He was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church. He loved to sing. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with military honors by the Cabarrus Veterans Honor Guard and officiated by Dr. Jonathan Casteel and Rev. Kenneth Walters. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 Thursday at Whitley's. He is survived by three sons, Randy H. Eagle (Carol) of Kannapolis, Alan K. Eagle (Linda) of Rock Hill, SC and Phil K. Eagle of Landis, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of the V.A. Home Health Care Unit and Comfort Keepers, especially Pat Beck, for allowing Harold to live at home for the past three years. We also want to thank the staff at Big Elm Nursing for their care of Harold for the last 10 months. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lane Street Baptist Church, 2532 Lane St., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
