Harold Richard Harrington

Obituary: Harold Richard Harrington (Herky), 79, of Kannapolis passed away on September 20, 2015 at his home. He was born January 6, 1936 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Homer and Beatrice Stancil Harrington. Harold retired from Duke Energy after many years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army and a retired veteran of the NC Army National Guard. He attended China Grove Church of God. In his earlier years, he liked to fish, hunt and go camping. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and the harmonica. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Steve Sprinkle. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with military honors by the NC Army National Guard and the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Whitley's. He is survived by four children, Ronald Dean Harrington of Kannapolis, Darlene Harrington Harwell (Gary Galloway) of Mooresville, Linda Harrington Hyman (Tim) of China Grove, Sherry Harrington Bonds (Eric) of Salisbury, his companion Doris Russell of China Grove, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sister, Betty Weaver Hedrick of Concord and his brother, Wayne Harrington of Missouri.
