Obituary: William Harold Parks, 84, of Kannapolis went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born April 19, 1928 in Rowan County, NC a son of the late Homer Glenn Parks and Eula Frances Freeze Parks. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Parks, and three brothers, Hugh, Bennett, and Raymond Parks. Harold was a lifelong member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon. He also was a member of the Kannapolis Moose Lodge. In early life he was a foreman at Cannon Mills, later worked at Douglas Aircraft, Terry Products and General Time. He enjoyed farming and raising a garden and loved sharing the fruits of his labors with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Sue Kerr Parks of the Home, a daughter, Vickie (Tom) Hurd and son Randy Parks both of Kannapolis. Two brothers, Arnold (Sarah) Parks and Kermit (Tina) Parks all of Kannapolis, six grandchildren, Todd (Sharon) Parks, Kim (Tommy) Moore, Michele Hurd, Shane Parks, Marty Hurd, and Jamie Parks, twelve great grandchildren, Justin and wife Kandis, Tyler and wife Logan, Dillon, Cory, Chandler, Cameron, Emily Hurd, Sala, Mia, Emily Parks, Carissa and Benjamin and one great great grandchild, Hunter. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Bethpage Presbyterian Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ellen Campbell Gardner, pastor. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 1:00-2:00 P.M. prior to the graveside service. At other times they will be at the residence. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethpage Presbyterian Church, 6020 Mooresville Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
