Harold Dean Watson

Obituary: Concord- Harold Dean Watson, 84, passed away Friday morning, March 15, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born October 23, 1934 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Lester Claude and Lessie Jean Hartsoe Watson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Norris Watson; his brother, Howard Stuart; and sisters, Pauline Irvin, Edith Arthur and Kathy Funderburk. Mr. Watson had retired from Cannon Mills Plant #1, after more than 45 years of loyal service, where he was a talented loom fixer. A strong supporter of Tony Stewart, Harold also enjoyed morning breakfast at Hardee's with friends. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was especially proud of his precious granddaughter, Kaitlyn. Family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 63 years, Carolyn Burgess Watson; his daughters, Terri Kelly (Warren) of Kannapolis and Sandy McCombs (David) China Grove; his much loved granddaughter, Kaitlyn Anne McCombs of China Grove; sisters, Jerline Bender of Lexington and Alice Shepherd of Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM Sunday, March 17th at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Watson will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Ron Hartman. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Hospice of Cabarrus County, especially Adrian and Eli, for the care, concern and love given during Harold's sickness.
