Harriet Lee (Cathey) Osborne

Harriet Lee (Cathey) Osborne, known by all who loved her as Happy, passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her love ones at home, early Sunday    morning, December 11th, 2022. She was 79 years young and very happy-go-lucky and care free. She was very kind hearted and always had a smile on her face. Happy truly lived up to her name. She would always accept people for who they were and love them unconditionally.

Happy was born on a bright, sunny day in September 26th, 1943. She was a rare native of Charlotte, North Carolina and later lived in Cornelius before moving in with her daughter in Kannapolis. She worked for Duke Power Company as a   customer service rep, Chrysler Corporation on the production line and Southern Bell as a telephone operator.

Happy loved her 3 amazing kids and their spouses: Jill (JC, former son-in-law),  Joy (Tim) and Chance (Kelly) and her awesome grandkids: Alyssa, Dylan, Kelton and Ben. She is very loved by her sister and brother and their spouses: Susan (John) and Charlie (Linda). She was loved by her parents, Pete and Thelma Cathey, who greeted her at the Pearly Gates.

Happy loved to work with kids and was truly a kid whisperer. She could get any child to calm down by her silly antics and funny stories. When she taught 3- and 4-year-old Sunday School or kept Nursery, she would walk to where each group of children were playing and share the Bible Lesson with them. She taught them to interact with the story and told them often, “Jesus loves you!”

Happy’s Celebration of Life will be held at Harvest Community Church, 4284 Orphanage Road, Concord, NC 28027 on Saturday, December 17th at 11am. The family receive friends at 10am.

We will be releasing bright, rainbow-colored balloons at the end of the service. Her ashes will be spread in the North Carolina Mountains that she loved.

In place of flowers, Happy wanted donations to be made to the following Ministries in her memory, Harvest Community Church Kids Ministry, 4284 Orphanage Road, Concord, NC 28027 or Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
