Harvey Dale Callicutt, 85 years old, of Davidson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on May 12, 2023. Harvey was born on August 4, 1937, in Cabarrus County to the late Harvey Wade and Goldie Keller Callicutt.
Harvey served his country for 20 years in the US Air Force during the Viet Nam War, where he was involved in top secret communications. After retiring from the Air Force, Harvey became an independent truck driver for many years. Harvey loved to tinker on anything with an engine.
Harvey was predeceased by his sisters, Catherine LaFontin and Phyllis Christenbury and his brothers, Charles, and Kenneth Callicutt. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Inge Finzer Callicutt; his daughter, Silvia Shelman and her husband Craig; his son, Darren Callicutt and his wife Andrea; his grandchildren, Rienna Smith, Aaron Breeding, David Breeding and his wife Katrina, Matthew Breeding and his wife Bianca, C.J. Shelman, Lia Shelman, Dylan Callicutt and Shay Myers; his seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Harvey will be laid to rest with military honors at Salisbury National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 10:00am. A memorial service will be held after the interment at 11:30am at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow in the Whitley’s Funeral Home Annex.
In lieu of flowers, the family will be taking donations which they will be distributing to Harvey’s and Inge’s favorite Military and Christian foundations. Any donations can be made through Zelle to 704-224-1913.
