Hazel Hammitt Gentle

Obituary: Hazel Hammitt Gentle, age 88 of Kannapolis gained her entry into the gates of Heaven and was reunited with, Gil, her husband of 65 years on May 7, 2017 at Carolina Medical Center-Northeast in Concord after a sudden illness. Hazel was born July 4, 1928 in Rowan County. She was the daughter of Carl and Vera Hammitt. She was preceded in death by sister Peggy Crowder. Survivors include her daughter Roxane (Larry)Honeycutt of Charlotte, three grandchildren, Corey Bumgarner, Nick Honeycutt, Alycia Finch along with nine great-grandchildren who she absolutely adored. She is also survived by a brother John Hammitt of Concord. Hazel was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family without boundaries. She loved riding on the back of Gil's motorcycle taking trips with friends and visiting their favorite spot, Maggie Valley. In her later years she was an avid reader, often reading a book per day. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 pm at the family home, 5015 Tucker Ave., Kannapolis on Saturday, the 13th of May.
