Hazel Lambert Hampton, 92, of Kannapolis, passed away, Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
She was born April 10, 1929 in Stanley Co. to the late William Albert Lambert and Sarah Honeycutt Lambert.
Hazel was a member of First Baptist Church Kannapolis. She was a devoted wife for 70 years to Gene who passed in March, 2020. She was a loving mother to her five children and was the glue that held the family together. She took precious care of her son, Barry, who was born with spina bifida, making sure he was able to attend school with other children during a time when handicapped children may not have had the same opportunities. At Barry's high school graduation, she was recognized with a standing ovation from the crowd for her commitment to making sure he was in school. Hazel loved gardening and could grow anything. She was always generous to share the harvest of her garden with friends, neighbors and family. She loved spending time with her family and was always willing to set another plate for anyone that showed up at mealtime. She went along on fishing trips with her family because she knew they enjoyed the outdoors and supported them. She worked briefly outside the home at Cannon Mills in the office until her children came along. She explored the world with her love of reading and did so until just recently. Hazel was a kind, sweet and caring person who always had a smile. She can best be described as a Proverbs 31 woman. She dearly loved her family and her Lord. She will be greatly missed by all her knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Eugene "Gene" Hampton, brother, Cecil Lambert, sisters Ruth Morgan and Jewell Chapman.
Those left to cherish her memory, sons; Barry Hampton, of Kannapolis, Robert Hampton (Katherine) of Harrisburg, daughters; Beverly Blackwelder (Eric) of Kannapolis, Barbara Gardner (Baxter) of Salisbury, Lisa Cobb (Greg) of Salisbury, 10 Grandchildren, eight Great Grandchildren, and two Great-Great Grandchildren.
