Obituary: Mrs. Hazel Haynie Johnson, 90, of Raleigh, formerly of Kannapolis, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Rex Rehab and Care Center in Apex following a period of declining health. She was born May 3, 1920 in Summit County, Ohio, daughter of the late Jessie Blaine and Donnie Banks Haynie. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kannapolis. Mrs. Johnson retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon Plt. #1 Sheeting Dept. following 30 years of service. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 2, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Dr. Tom Cabaniss. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 6:30 P.M.-8:00 P.M.at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of the son, Jerry Johnson, 302 Tanglewood Drive, Kannapolis. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Chester Edward Johnson who died October 15, 2007. Survivors include her son, Jerry Edward (Phyllis) Johnson of Kannapolis, a daughter, Joyce Johnson (Charles) Hester of Raleigh. She is survived by six grandchildren; Bret Johnson and wife Wanda, Tiffany Fulton and husband Tommy, Meredith Johnson, Jessica Matthews and Husband Gerry, Jeff Hester and wife Whitney, Jerry Hester and wife Julia, and thirteen great great grandchildren.
