Obituary: Mrs. Hazel Pennell Keller, age 93, loving Mother of Bob R. Keller of Charlotte, NC, and Janice Keller Russell of Woodstock, GA, passed away April 6, 2010, at Five Oaks Manor nursing facility, Kannapolis, NC. She was born July 15,1916, to the late Hugh Columbus and the late Annie Iona Pennell of Taylorsville, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade R. Keller of Marietta, GA (1992), and eight sisters and four brothers of Kannapolis, Taylorsville and Mocksville, NC. She is survived by her son, Bob R. Keller (Mildred) of Charlotte, and daughter, Janice Keller Russell of Woodstock, GA, six grandchildren: Robin Keller Bowlin (Rob) of Indian Trail, Christi Keller Barker (TP) of Charlotte, Todd Russell of Woodstock, GA; Lance Keller (Megan) of Charlotte, Julie Russell Boyeski (Jason) of Fayetteville, AR; Kelli Russell Sanders (Tracy) of Canton, GA; four great grandchildren: Madison and Wesley Bowlin of Indian Trail, NC, and Ethan and Sarah Sanders of Canton, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Keller moved to Kannapolis in 1931 and lived there with her late husband until 1952 when they moved to Marietta, GA, where she resided until she returned to North Carolina in 2001. The last eight years, she resided at Wesbury Apartments and Concord Place Assisted Living in Concord, NC. Mrs. Keller was a faithful member of Roswell Street Baptist Church, Marietta, GA, for almost 50 years. Upon returning to NC, she became a member of West Point Baptist Church in Kannapolis. The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff at Concord Place Assisted Living and Five Oaks Manor for all the care and concern given to "Miss Hazel" during her time there. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home on Saturday, April 10, from 1:00-2:30 PM with a memorial service following. A family friend, Pastor Ray Hardee of Forest Pointe Church, Belmont, NC, will be officiating. Mrs. Keller will be laid to rest beside her late husband at Carolina Memorial Park. Donations to Samaritan's Purse (Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607) or flowers may be sent in her memory. Visitation: 1-2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 10th at Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, April 10th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, NC
