Hazel Burton Lindsay

Obituary: Hazel Burton Lindsay, 93, of Cary, NC completed her earthy journey on March 25, 2018. She was born August 23, 1924 in Madison County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Albert and Leona King Burton. She moved to Kannapolis as a child and spent most of her life there. She retired from Cannon Mills sheet department after many years. She was a member of Centerview Baptist Church. She moved to Cary about ten years ago to be closer to her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband W.R. (Barney) Lindsay, brothers Eldo Burton and Roper Burton and a sister Willie Mae Rymer. She is survived by her daughter, Angela L. Baker (Robert) of Cary, NC, and 2 grandsons, Britt Baker (Amy)of Cary and Derek Baker (Lisa) of Apex and four great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life, Kaila Baker, Abby Baker, Aubrey Baker, and Ben Baker. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Riley Burton of Salisbury and 2 special nieces and their families Ruth Cruse of Concord and Peggy Burton of Kannapolis. Also left to cherish her memories are two special people she was "Mom" to- Carolyn Duplisea of Kannapolis and Tina Reid of Suffolk, VA. We wish to thank the staff of Spring Arbor of Cary for the wonderful care they have given to Mother for the past 8 months and to Heartland Hospice for the care and support she has received from them. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Carolina Memorial Park officiated by Rev. William Rash. The family will receive prior from 2 to 3 at Whitley's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospitals, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or Heartland Hospice, 4505 Falls of Neuse Road, Suite 650, Raleigh, NC 27609-2523.
