Hazel Lee (Orren) Martin

Hazel Lee Orren Martin, 95, of Kannapolis, went to her heavenly home on Friday, December 15, 2023.

Hazel was born on January 29, 1928 in Alexander County, a daughter of the late Daniel Orren and Dona Chapman Orren.

Hazel worked in the Spinning Department of Cannon Mills in Plant #4. She was a faithful and long-standing member of Shadybrook Baptist Church, where she served as the Children’s Sunday School Teacher and Director for many years. She had a love of nature and enjoyed spending time outside in the sun. She also loved gardening flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Lee Martin; son, David L. Martin; daughter, Donna Martin Bost; sisters, Effie Ingram, Hattie Cloninger, and Linda Holt; brothers, Cedric Orren and Bill Orren, and a grandson, Mitchell Deal.

Those left to cherish her memory include grandchildren, Lynn (Kell) Hill and Daniel Martin; sister, Marie Chapman; brother, Daniel Orren; seven great-grandchildren, four step-grandsons, and multiple step-great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Shadybrook Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow and begin at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Charlie Littlejohn and Rev. Billy Michael Orren officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
