Hazel R. Troutman

Obituary: Mrs. Hazel Rimmer Troutman, 97, of Kannapolis went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 18, 2017 after an extended illness. She was born June 11, 1920 in Iredell County to Fred A. and Viola Campbell Rimmer. Hazel was a charter member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she had served as building fund treasure and almost every office in the church. She was an avid Duke Basketball fan, she also loved to cook, and demonstrated her caring and compassionate nature to her friends and church members. She retired from Cannon Mills Company in 1963 after 38 years of service. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fay Francis ( Jiggs ) Troutman , three sisters Katherine Harkness , Rachel Gilmore, and Helen Christopher. Survivors include her daughter Gloria Garrett and husband Danny of Winston Salem, her brother Harold Rimmer of Statesville, her sister Eloise Warren of Charlottesville Va. her granddaughter Lisa Garrett of Winston Salem. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 22, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Craig Allen officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Mrs. Troutman will be laid to rest beside her husband in Iredell Memorial Garden, Statesville, N.C.
