Obituary: Mary Hazeleen "Granny" Correll Price, age 94, of Landis died April 13, 2014 at her home after an extended period of declining health. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, April 19 at Jackson Park United Methodist Church, in Kannapolis, N.C., with Rev. Neal Brower officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 PM Saturday at the church prior to the funeral. At other times they will be at her home in Landis. Hazeleen was born September 4, 1919 in Kannapolis, a daughter of the late P. E. and Lucy Eddleman Correll. She was a lifelong area resident and graduated from J. W. Cannon High School and Charlotte Business College. Hazeleen worked for Cannon Mills as a clerk in the Shipping and Billing Dept. for 39 years until retiring in 1981. She was raised in St. John's UCC until she married Elby Eugene Price, who was a charter member of Jackson Park UMC, and transferred her membership there. She was an active member there until her death. Her life was her family and traveling with her husband after their retirement. Hazeleen enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing and spending time with her family and friends. "Granny" was a loving, gentle soul, who inspired many in her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Hazeleen was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years; Elby Eugene Price and by her 2 sisters, Louise Long and Gladys Fleming and her son-in-law, David Hill, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory include her 2 daughters Rosemary Hill of Rougemont NC and Beth Farmer (Larry) of Landis, her grandchildren Lisa Howerton, David Hill (III) Maggie Drumwright (Antoine), Brad Farmer (Cristie) and Jonathan Farmer (Miranda), her great-grandchildren include; Mickey, Austin and Trey Drumwright, George Howerton, Jr., Addison Farmer and she was looking forward to the birth of her 6th great-grandchild this summer. Hazeleen was also survived by her faithful and loving canine companion, Jaxon.
