Obituary: Heath Walter Mills, 86, of Kannapolis passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. He was born March 9, 1929 in Union County, the son of the late Walter Mills and Effie Jordan Mills. He retired from Cannon Mills where he worked in the Overhaul Dept. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed working out in his yard and gardening. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 24, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Randall Ritchie. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 prior at Whitley's. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Horne Mills, daughter, Brenda M. Carter of Kannapolis, two sons, Edwin Eugene Mills (Cathy) of Kannapolis and Larry Wayne Mills (Claudia) of Dallas, grandchildren, Billy Carter, Jennifer Carter, Caleb Mullis, Matthew Mills and his sister, Lavenia Horne.
