Heather Martin Whitley

Heather Martin Whitley, 47, of Concord, passed away Friday morning, February 11, 2022, at Atrium Health Cabarrus, following complications from pneumonia.

Heather was born February 21, 1974, in Greenville, SC, a daughter of John Anthony and Teresa Burnett Martin. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Thurston Burnett.

A 1992 graduate of East Mecklenburg High School, Heather continued her education attending CPCC and UNCC, obtaining an associate degree.  She had been a loyal employee with Airgas for more than 20 years. Heather loved her family, the time spent with them, and she loved life. She enjoyed cooking, family get-togethers, adored children, and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her soon to be niece.  She also loved and spoiled her 2 dogs, Precious and Marvel. Gone too soon, Heather will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Family members left to cherish Heather’s memory in addition to her parents include her husband of 20 years, Reid Whitley; her sons, Zachary and Andrew Whitley; her sister, Jacqueline Martin; maternal grandmother, Jackie Burnett; paternal grandparents, Ed and Dorothy Martin;   and aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 1:30-3:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  A memorial service to remember and celebrate Heather’s life will begin at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Michael Owens.
