Obituary: Concord, NC Helen Moore Clark Blackerby, 94 of The Country Home of Cabarrus County died on Wednesday January 27, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center/ NorthEast after a period of declining health and then became seriously ill for 2 weeks. She was born on October 17, 1915 in Union County, North Carolina to the late Bertrum Redwine Clark and the late Gladys Moore Clark. She was educated in the Union County Schools and attended The NC Teacher's College in Boone, NC. She was a long time area resident. She worked as an insurance agent for the Odell Insurance Agency in Kannapolis retiring after 25 years of service. She loved to garden and to read. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Kannapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband: Harold Wilson Blackerby, Sr., and a sister: Virginia Clark Shufflebarger. She is survived by a daughter: Catherine Blackerby Monahan (Daniel) of Kannapolis and a son: Harold Wilson Blackerby, Jr. (Dawn) of Concord. 5 grandchildren: Chris Lippard, Karen Ernest, Julie Mitchem, Joshua Blackerby, and Tracey Scott. 10 Great-grandchildren, and one nephew. A graveside service will be held on Monday February 1, 2010 at 2:00PM at Carolina Memorial Park with Dr. Thomas E. Cabaniss officiating. At other times the family will be at the residence of daughter Catherine Monahan. Memorials may be made to Coltrane Life Center, 321 Corban Avenue SE, Concord, NC 28025 or First Baptist Church, 101 North Main Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
