Obituary: Helen Louise Crainshaw Casper, age 88, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a period of declining health. She was born February 20, 1926 in Iredell County, NC, the daughter of the late Dallis L. Crainshaw and Eula Nantz Crainshaw. Helen was fortunate enough to receive two high school diplomas, one in 1941 at Landis High School, Landis, NC which only had eleven years then and a year later in 1942 at J.W. Cannon High School in Kannapolis, NC. Helen had also graduated from Salisbury Beauty College and served as a hairdresser for many years. She later worked for the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One where she had worked in the weaving and engineering depts. for over thirty-five years until her retirement. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, NC where she had been active in various phases of church activities. Especially important was her faithful service as a volunteer at the Kannapolis Lunch Plus Club held at Living Water Church of God, Kannapolis, NC where she received the Volunteer of the Year award in 2012. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Michael Howard Casper, Sr; a grandson, Michael Howard Casper, Jr.; and three brothers, Charlie (Bud) Crainshaw, Wayne Crainshaw, and Tom Crainshaw. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Second Presbyterian Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Howard Tyas. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Saturday in the church parlor at the church prior to the funeral service. Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Martin Howard Casper; a son, Kent Casper & wife, Lib of Raleigh, NC; a daughter-in-law, Bobbye Casper of Euharlee, GA; three grandchildren, Angie Chavez & husband, Erick of Acworth, GA; Kendall Casper & wife, Stacy of Tuscumbia, AL; and Jennifer Casper of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Dallene Dillard and husband, Furman of Kannapolis five great-grandchildren.
