Obituary: Helen B. Dennis, 95, formerly of 403 Shue Road, China Grove, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Liberty Commons of Alamance, Burlington, NC. The funeral will be held at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Boulevard, Kannapolis, NC on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Bruce Sheeks and Rev. Maurice Staley officiating. Entombment will follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Park , China Grove. Viewing will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Helen was born July 26, 1915, in Rowan County, the daughter of Floyd and Lottie Barger. She attended Park School and Farm Life High School. She was a retiree of Cannon Mills, with 35 years of service. She was a long-standing member of the Cress Home Club and Oasis Club at the First Baptist Church and later a member of the Busy Bee Club at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. On September 22, 1942, she married Dewey E. Dennis, who died November 27, 1984. They had one son, H. Ray Dennis, who lives in Chocowinity, NC. Survivors, in addition to her son, include two granddaughters, Jennifer Le and Holly Willis and two great-grandsons, Ethan Le and Kyle Willis, all of Burlington, NC and brothers Burton Barger, Mocksville, NC, and Kelly Barger, Raleigh, NC and a sister, Grace Millar, Salisbury, NC. She was preceded in death by sisters Mary Sowers and Joan Kluttz, brother Frank Barger, and stepson Donald L. Dennis. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3070 E. NC Hwy 152, China Grove, NC 28023.
