Obituary: Helen Hamilton Donaldson, 77, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 10, 2015 at Best of Care Assisted Living, where she had been a resident the past four years. Born In Concord, NC on November 5, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Inez Broadway Hamilton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley "Ben" Donaldson and her brother, Delma Hamilton. Helen was a 1957 graduate of A.L. Brown High School. In 1982, she became a Certified Radiologic Technologist, receiving her Certified Chiropractic Nurse diploma from Central Piedmont Community College in 1983. Helen retired from Trull Chiropractic Clinic after more than 35 years of service. Earlier in life Helen was a beautician and had studied real estate. She had also been a member of the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, where she was past president and Girl of the Year award recipient. A member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church, she enjoyed planting flowers, especially roses. The light of her life was her granddaughter Emily, the two being like "peas and carrots". Family members left with cherished memories include her son Doug Donaldson and wife, Penny of Kannapolis; her granddaughter and "the light of her life", Emily Donaldson; brothers Harold Hamilton and wife, Linda and Floyd Hamilton and wife, Debbie; her sister Carol Lowder and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday, December 14 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Funeral services to celebrate Helen's life will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Jim Brookshire. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
