Helen Louise (Hess) Mccarn

Helen Louise Hess McCarn,91, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 28, 2024 at Five Oaks Manor, Concord, following a period of declining health.

Helen was born October 18, 1932 in Rowan County, N.C. daughter of the late Julius Glenn Hess and Dorothy Correll Hess. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 62 years, Thomas Dobson “Dobbie” McCarn who died September 19, 2014, brothers James Ray Hess, and Robert Julius Hess, and sisters Mary Ruth Harrill and Alice Hess Stokes. She was a graduate of Boyden High School. She had been a resident of Kannapolis since 1961.

She was a long time member of Jackson Park United Methodist Church where she was involved with circle work. She retired from Winn-Dixie in 1994 with 30 years of service.

Helen enjoyed square dancing, playing solitaire, sudoku and puzzles.

She loved her family and was proud of their accomplishments. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Laurie Knoespel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.

Family members left to cherish her memory include two sons, Randy C. McCarn (Brenda) of Kannapolis, Steven T. McCarn (Jackie) of Yadkinville, two grandchildren Matthew (Karen) and Allison (Alessio) and two great grandchildren, Annabelle and Jasper.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Jackson Park United Methodist Church, 715 Mable Ave, Kannapolis, NC 28083 or to Atrium Cabarrus County Hospice and Palliative Care, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
