Obituary: Helen Smith Sechler passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Hickory Viewmont, Hickory, NC. Helen was the daughter of the late Samuel and Laura Smith. She graduated from high school in Bessemer City, NC and continued her education at Queens Business College, Charlotte, NC. Helen married Fred Homes Sechler and moved to Kannapolis. She went to work in the payroll department for Cannon Mills and was employed there for 40 years. Helen was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She participated in many activities and was as Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a Southern Christian lady who loved and adored her family and the many friends she had made in her lifetime. Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Sechler Farr, Hickory; three grandchildren, Laurie Ann MacKinnon, Robert Bruce MacKinnon, Naples, FL, Gigi Farr Ham and husband James, Hickory; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Helen also had a loving extended family of caretakers and friends at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Viewmont. The family wishes to thank the nursing center for all the wonderful care she received. There will be a memorial service at Trinity United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 21st at 2:30 p.m. in the church chapel with the Rev. Judy White officiating. Memorials may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church, 416 East 1st Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the Sechler family.

Service: There will be a memorial service at Trinity U. Meth. Church on Sunday Nov. 21, 2010 in the church chapel.
