Helen Virginia Byrd Davis

Obituary: Helen Virginia Byrd Davis, age 88, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the home of her nephew, Rev. David Lord, in Longs, S.C. She was born June 5, 1926 in Mecklenburg County, NC, the daughter of Mack Theodore Byrd and Julia Roseanne Honeycutt Byrd. Helen was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Sewing Room for forty-two years until her retirement in 1988. She was a charter member of Pleasant Avenue Freewill Baptist Church; Kannapolis, NC for many years and later attended Bethel Wesleyan Church, Kannapolis, NC where she had many family members. Her family members fondly remember her love of care giving especially for various family members and church members. She also loved her church and Gospel music. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond D. Davis; and eight siblings. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Bethel Wesleyan Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Joe Harding, Rev. David Lord, and Rev. Patrick Dagenhart. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the service. The family will be at the home of another nephew, Tim Lord, in China Grove, NC the remainder of the time. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Bethel Wesleyan Church, 4036 Old Salisbury - Concord Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
