Henry Edward Mcmanus

Obituary: Henry Edward McManus, age 85, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after suffering a battle with cancer. He was born July 30, 1929 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Jessie McManus and Lessie Plyler McManus. In earlier years Henry was employed as plant manager for the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, in the Carding & Spinning Depts. and later at Plant Four Spinning Room for a total of forty-four years until his retirement in 1993. Henry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and fixing lawn mowers. In fact, he was viewed by many as a handyman doing jobs for family and friends. He was also an active member of Unity Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC where he also helped around the church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ruth McManus; two sons, Richard E. McManus and Steven H. McManus; a granddaughter, Courtney B. Graham; four sisters; and eight brothers. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Unity Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Tommy Wensil. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include his children, Rhonda M. (Wayne) Little of Kannapolis, NC; Jessica M. (Ryan) Waters of Charlotte, NC; Richard Seth McManus of Phoenix, AR; Garrett E. (Tiffany) McManus of Navarre, FL; Tyler Graham and Kendra B. Little, both of Kannapolis, NC; and several nieces & nephews.

Service: 2:00 PM, Friday February 27, 2015 Unity Baptist Church.

Interment: Carolina Memorial Park
