Henry Monroe Walter, Sr.

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Henry Monroe Walter, Sr., 90, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Big Elm Nursing Home. Henry was born September 10, 1921 in Cabarrus County to the late Allie Franklin Walter and Mary Sloop Walter. He retired after 30 years of service from Crowder Construction Company; was a World War II Marine veteran 1940-1945; and was a member of Unity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis. Survivors include his sons, Henry M. Walter, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of China Grove, Walter Ray Martin and his wife Janie of Morganton, NC; two daughters, Barbara M. Lewis and her husband, Don of Kannapolis and Lezette Beam-Honeycutt of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Harry Walter of Concord, A. F. Walter Jr. of Mooresville, and Bobby Walter of Concord. Henry was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Suretta Walter and his 2nd wife, Nadine Walter; and a sister, Eva Adams. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Timothy Whittington officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
