Herbert A. Rogers

Obituary: Mr. Herbert A. Rogers,92, of Kannapolis, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Tucker Hospice House following a brief illness. He was born August 16, 1917 in Horry County, SC son of the late A.B. and Daisy Venter Rogers. He retired in 1982 from Cannon Mills Pt. #1 as a construction supervisor following 48 years of service. He was a longtime member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School director as long as his health permitted. He also served as a RA counselor. He loved to fish with his sons and he and his wife loved to travel. He loved to tend garden and shared his many vegetables with friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Chris O'Guinn. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service. At other times the family will be at the residence. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 75 years: Hazel Ruth Tarlton Rogers, One Daughter: Doris Kluttz and husband Gary of Rockwell, Three Sons: James Edward Rogers and wife Faye of Apple Valley, Ca., Fred Rogers and Lawrence G. Rogers and wife Carol all of Kannapolis. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and 20 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two Grandchildren and one Deceased Great Grandson. Memorials may be made to North Kannapolis Baptist Church, 312 Locust Street, Kannapolis, NC. 28081.
