Obituary: Herman Loraine Hollaway, 72, of Kannapolis died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House following a strong and courageous fight with cancer. He was born February 12, 1940 in Cabarrus County, NC son of the late Earnest Gilbert and Ester Mae Case Hollaway. He was of the Wesleyan Faith. Herman was formerly employed by Fieldcrest-Cannon, Public Gas Service, Martin Marietta, Titan Building Products and later retired from Builder's First Source due to disability in 2000. He was an avid golf player as long as his health permitted. He also loved bowling and going to the family's lake property. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Emma "Jean" Melton Hollaway of the home. They celebrated their anniversary on April 20, 2012. Also surviving is one son, Tony Lynn Hollaway of Holden Beach, two daughters, Cynthia Renae Blake of Kannapolis, Lisa Diane Hollaway Stancil and husband Steve of Locust, brother, Frank Hollaway of Supply, and sister Lillie Mae Parker of Camden, SC. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Carlo Greco. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:00-1:00 prior to the service.
